Transforming Your Hair (Feat. Betsy)

1. DESCRIBE YOUR OVERALL HAIR JOURNEY:

I had 3 perms in 7th grade. Would straighten my hair even with the perm. Washed it everyday. due to damage, it fried off and over time it was to my shoulders and all jagged. All of freshman year (high school) I wore my hair in a bun so I wouldn’t damage it more. I would use coconut oil and argon oil. I would also take hair skin and nails vitamins as well as 2 fish oil vitamins a day. I then got really into health and ate all natural foods, specifically just vegetables and protein. I gave up sugar and my hair grew tremendously. Sugar latches on to the proteins that make your hair grow so when I gave it up, including natural sugar, it grew at a crazy fast rate.

2. DESCRIBE YOUE HAIR CARE ROUTINE:

I use OGX miracle coconut oil religiously but I just recently switched to Gisou. I am not sure which one I like better. OGX is way more affordable. I wash my hair like 3 times a week. I find the OGX miracle coconut oil is more hydrating, but thicker. I apply oil to my ends and areas that need a little help right after I get out of the shower when my hair is still a little damp. I also apply oil to my ends throughout the day if they feel a little dry. I use regular drug store shampoo and conditioner (Pantene Moisture Renewal). I find that drug store shampoo and conditioner work just as well (if not better) than other high end shampoos and conditioners; I don’t worry about sulfates and parabens in drug store products because I don’t wash my hair enough to have them really make any damage. I don’t brush my hair with a hair brush; I try to only use a wide tooth comb or not brush my hair at all. I’ve also been embracing my natural hair and I avoid using heat as much as possible.

3. PRODUCT MUST-HAVES:

OGX miracle coconut oil, Gisou honey oil

4. IF YOU WERE TO SPLURGE ON JUST ONE HAIR CARE PRODUCT WHAT DO YOU THINK IT MOST IMPORTANT? :

Currently I want to splurge on a nice blow dryer that cuts down on time and reduces frizz. But I think the gisou honey infused oil was a good splurge.

5. IS THEIR SOMEONES HAIR THAT INSPIRED YOU TO TAKE CHARGE AND TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOUR HAIR? :

When my hair was really damaged, I just took the initiative myself because it made me insecure. Now, I love watching hair care routines from Negin and seeing what she’s doing to maintain her locks.

6. EXTRA TIPS:

Oils oils oils! If your ends feel dry, apply coconut oil or any other hair oil to your ends. Not only will they look healthier, it’ll prevent frail strands from breaking due to lack of moisture
